We do not have to remind you that it is Black Friday tomorrow, and no doubt you have been online as well as looking at all the ads to see what deals websites and retail stores are offering. Mind Your Business: Act now to get some great deals

Consumers are spending, cash registers are ringing and retailers hope to be smiling on this Black Friday.

Experts are predicting 77 million Americans will take to shopping centers and any store where big deals are to be had, giving the economy a much-needed jolt.
Click here to find out more!

I must admit, I’ve never gotten up at 4 or 5 a.m. to wait in line and brave the cold, trying to sprint past a competing shopper to grab the last Tickle Me Elmo.

I do, however, look at the Black Friday ads to see what kinds of deals I could net if I’d stop procrastinating with my Christmas shopping.

Check out some of these big deals on one of my favorite things — electronics.

In the market for a laptop? I’m not, but for less than $200, I might be.

At Best Buy, $197 can get you an HP Laptop with Intel Celeron 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB, with a 15.6-inch monitor.

At Wal-Mart, $198 can get you an eMachine laptop with a 15.6-inch monitor with 2GB RAM, 160GB and a DVD burner.

These laptops for less than $300 are steals:

Wal-Mart: HP G60-519wm laptop 3GB RAM, 250GB, CD/DVD burner — $298.

Staples: HP laptop with Intel Celeron Processor — $299.98.

As are these for less than $400:

Staples: HP laptop with Intel Pentium Processor — $399.98.

Best Buy: Sony VAIO laptop with free antivirus software for one year — $399.99.

If you haven’t updated your home’s TV yet to HD or LCD/Plasma, these Black Friday deals should make it hard for you not to.

I upgraded to HD a couple of years ago, and the difference is huge — just like the price I paid ($1,200) as opposed to today’s sales.

Wal-Mart: Sansui 19-inch LCD HDTV, $128; Emerson 32-inch LCD HDTV, $248, and 42-inch, $448; Sanyo 50-inch Plasma HDTV, $598.

Target: Westinghouse 32-inch LCD HDTV, $246.

Best Buy: Dynex 32-inch LCD HDTV, $299 and $499 for the 42 inch.

Sears: Sylvania 37-inch LCD HDTV, $399; Zenith 42-inch LCD HDTV, $499.99.

Please stay alert and safe!

As shoppers head out with the best of intentions, please remember there are people out with the worst of intentions.

They know the crowded shopping center parking lots are full of cars that are full of merchandise. They know people are apt to be carrying more cash today.

As my football coach used to say, “keep your head on a swivel.”

Be sure to make every effort to keep your merchandise in the trunk and out of site of the grinches.

FOX 5 Money: Holiday TV Deals

By MELANIE ALNWICK/myfoxdc

WASHINGTON, D.C. - LCD, LED, 720 or 1080P. No matter what kind you like, high-definition TVs are hot this holiday. And for those of us who dropped several thousand dollars a few years ago for a giant, big-screen TV set, it's a whole new world out there.

A sleek, high-definition TV can now be had for well under a $1,000. The 32" LCD 720P models are being aggressively priced, as they say in the retail world. Stephen Baker, vice president of Industry Analysis for NPD Group, explains why.

"There is an extraordinary level of competition, both between the retailers and the manufacturers, to get what appears to be a limited about of consumers to buy, and because of that, we are seeing as good of prices as we have ever seen," said Baker.

From 5 - 11am on Friday, Wal-Mart will sell a 32" Emerson for $248.00, and on Saturday, they'll offer a 32" Samsung for $398. The Sony 32" Bravia, which regularly sells for about $500, will be $378.00 all day on Friday.

Best Buy is selling it Friday for a dollar cheaper, $377.99.

Steve Johnson, store services manager at the Wisconsin Avenue store in D.C., warns that after Friday, that deal is gone. Best Buy rolled out some of its promotional prices on some sets a week early. The 32" Samsung is now $397, and the Dynex 32" is $299.99, while the Insignia 32" is $339.99. If early sales are any indication, it's going to be a busy weekend.

"It's hectic. We've got a lot of work to do, a lot of work to do, but we'll manage to do it," says Johnson.

Other 32" deals we discovered on Black Friday websites include a Sylvania 32" with built in DVD player for $349.99 at K-mart, a 32" Sony for $379.99 at Sears, and a Westinghouse 32" selling for $246.00 at Target. Of course, the bigger the TV, the bigger the bargain.

"Those products are down over $1,000 from where they were when introduced six months ago," says Baker.

LED, or Light Emitting Diode, sets are the newest entry into the market.

"With the LED, you're getting a more efficient TV, energy wise," explains Best Buy's Johnson. "You're getting better detail, better color saturation-- the redder reds, whiter whites type of thing."

They're also ultra slim. Best Buy is selling a 46" Samsung LED set at almost half price-- just $1,499.00. Wal-Mart will sell the Samsung 46" LCD version for $848 on Saturday only.

"The number-one rule is to get people in the store. Often there are great prices, but most of the products that are advertised have limited quantities, many are below cost," says NPD's Baker.

The TV price wars have begun, and buyers are the winners in this year's retail battle.
